South for Construction Season's Greetings Box and Corporate Identity

About the design

The goal was to bring the company into the 21st century without eliminating its roots. A block from the construction of a main street in Beirut was packaged for a Season's Greeting promotion. Arabic is the primary language, introduced through Arabic calligraphy and arabesque design, with a clean approach to the corporate identity.

About the designer

Leila Musfy is a professor of design at the Department of Architecture and Design, American University of Beirut. Leila has been teaching and practicing design since she graduated from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1981. Her work has been published in "Typojanchi", "World Graphic Design: Contemporary Graphics from Africa, the Far East, Latin America and the Middle East" and "Worldwide Identity". She has been exhibited in Korea, Croatia, Holland, the US, Turkey, Lebanon and Syria. Her area of interest is language and communication. By incorporating Arabic calligraphy with Latin typography she tries to bring Arabic design into the 21st century yet maintaining the heritage and culture it is strongly rooted in. Leila's interest is in universal language, culture, heritage and most of her work addresses these issues. Through innovation and experimentation, she tries to find possible solutions to communication.
