在完成了企业反病毒软件公司Sybari的收购之后，微软日前宣布即将推出自己的反病毒软件。按计划，它将成为一项年度注册服务。
微软安全保障小组(Technology Care and Safety Group)的总经理Ryan Hamlin对《纽约时报》的记者称，微软对这项服务的开发已进行了3年的时间。
该报报道称，微软的新软件OneCare将针对Windows PC提供包括反病毒及反间谍软件功能，PC备份和性能改善功能。
该市场上目前的领先公司为提供诺顿系列产品的赛门铁克公司和McAfee公司。
面对这个即将上阵的竞争对手，赛门铁克在一篇新闻稿中表示，它将以所拥有的渠道商和数百万用户及成熟的整合技术优势从容应付。
功能特性：
“Windows OneCare”是一项计算机安全注册服务，可保护和维护用户机器，并提高机器性能。“Windows OneCare”能移除系统上的蠕虫、病毒、间谍软件以及其他恶意软件。除此之外，它还能保护磁盘上的文档，相片，视频，音乐以及财经信息。另一项惹人喜欢的功能是可减少系统的繁重任务以及防止系统资源（内存）耗尽。“Windows OneCare”其他功能特性：

目前，这项服务正在美国测试中，而国际测试则在不久后推出。
